Trailer of my first Feature documentary Mother of Tibetans on the life and work of Irmtraut Wäger.
Synopsis
A woman decides to have a meaningful life after entering pension age. For 30 years Irmtraut Wäger headed German Aid To Tibetans and helped the Dalai Lama and the Tibetans in exile. She collected about 30 million Euros in donations and took care of over 5.000 Tibetan godchildren. Furthermore she facilitated the construction of schools, hospitals, kindergardens and old people’s homes all over India. Today she is seen as a shining example of successful refugee relief.

Mother of Tibetans has been awarded with an Honorable Jury Mention by the 11th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival located in the city of Delhi, the national capital of India in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India.
Mother of Tibetans has been awarded with Best Debut Filmmaker by the Kateye International Filmfestival located in the city of Calcutta in the state of West Bengal in India.
Mother of Tibetans has been declared Winner in the category Best First Time Filmmaker’s Film by KHIFF – Krimson Horyzon International Film Festival in Kolkata (Calcutta), West Bengal, India.
The 7th SRFF – Socially Relevant Film Festival in New York 2020 officially selected Mother of Tibetans
The film festival had to be changed into an online event due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
There was a live online Q&A session called Meet the Filmmakers broadcast on the festival’s youtube channel.
The session was called Social Entrepreneurs and Women and besides the short film filmmakers Chantel Clark (Our Albertinia / South Africa 2019) and Steve Distante (Igniting Impact / USA 2019) it featured me, Niklas Goslar as the director of the feature documentary Mother of Tibetans. The talk was lead by the Filmfestival’s founder and artistic director Nora Armani and was moderated by Lucie Tripon longtime collaborator of the festival and Tenzin Tseyang manager of the Tibetan Community Centre for New York and New Jersey. Trailer zu meinem ersten langen Dokumentarfilm über Leben und Werk von Irmtraut Wäger.
Kurzbeschreibung: Eine Frau beschließt nach ihrer Pensionierung einen sinnvollen dritten Lebensabschnitt. Irmtraut Wäger leitet 30 Jahre lang die Deutsche Tibethilfe und unterstützt den Dalai Lama und die Tibeter im Exil. Sie sammelt 30 Millionen Euro an Spenden und hilft damit über 5.000 Tibetischen Patenkindern. Außerdem ermöglicht sie so den Bau von Schulen, Krankenhäusern, Kindergärten und Altenheimen in ganz Indien. Sie gilt heute als leuchtendes Vorbild gelungener Flüchtlingshilfe.
